Welcome to the LDR475 blog! This is the format that we will be using to publish and share reflections over the "Project Implemenation" phase of LDR475: Leadership Project.
Each week, every member of the class will post at least one blog entry and two comments in response to another entry
Entries should address the following:
1) A summary of how they contributed to their project throughout the week.
2) The greatest joy and greatest challenge associated with the project that week.
3) Leadership lessons learned in or through their project.
4) A question for the rest of the class associated with their project.
5) OPTIONAL: Pictures or other media from your project.
All blog entries are due on Fridays by midnight and comment responses are due the following Monday by 8:00 AM.

Well it looks as if all of us missed the ball on this one.
ReplyDeleteWeek four-
I started off the week by giving my presentation. After that I made some new surveys and sent them out to residents to find out what they think about RAs and what they do. The results have been great. This week has been tough because I hit a big dead end for a few methods of research. Research dead ends-
-Other names for RAs
Preceptors- RA to nursing schools…no specifics
Proctors- Religious RA kind of…not really an RA
Senior residents- Senior citizens…all results were about surgery and treatment of older people
Student assistants- Things that can assistant struggling students with their grades
-Two tries emailing Moffit with no response
I think the best thing I can do is to find out who else was involved in the LDR class besides Moffit in the past and contact them. The greatest joy of the week was my poster presentation because the feedback let me know what direction I should be going.
My question for the rest of the class is what route would be the best to take right now...finding out the ciriculum for servant leadership or researching more about what other campuses look like?
Micah,
ReplyDeleteI think you might be well off researching more about what other campuses look like. More specifically what there Resident Assistants' program looks like and how effective it is. I think maybe you should call admissions offices of Campuses like Asbury or other Christian schools and try to connect with their Programs and find the good and bad in their experiences. You know what also might help is to talk to students at other universities. Try contacting some friends and see what they think.
I also think that some secular universities might have some good programs and you can get pieces of info from a bunch of different colleges and put them together.
So this week has been relatively relaxing, though I have done some work. Next week should be a ton of work and hours so I decided this week to take it easy. I started off the week presenting on Tuesday. I enjoyed it and would love to know if you guys fully understood what CASA is and does because if not I have to work on my speech. I would like to talk to classes later in the semester and need to know people understand what I am talking about.
ReplyDeleteSo question 1: Did you fully Understand the CASA program when I presented? If not do you have any questions?
I had training on Thursday. It was great I love going and learning. I can not wait to be a CASA but still have lots to learn. I was assigned my first case this Thursday as a co-casa. I also was assigned to observe my first court hearing this Thursday which is very exciting. Most people do not get excited about court but I am weird and like it. Besides training I talked to my professor who gave me some pointers on my duty in court and that I needed to talk to other professors who would probably definitely let me talk to their class. A visual would be helpful.
My Greatest JOY was going to training and learning. I cant wait to help the first kid.
My greatest challenge is the fact I forgot to blog by Friday and have to make sure I do cause its not that hard. I also have the challenge of not being able to save the world. I would love to help every child but I cant and have to realize that. I can get more people involved though to help.
I think my leadership lesson goes with the challenge. As leaders we must realize we cannot save the world or conquer all things but every little thing we do is a step to make a big difference. It kind of reminds me of the Book THE TIPPING POINT, we can be that little thing that tips.
My 2nd question is how do you right a blog without having to comment on one? I cant figure out how.
To blog on the other page you go to your home page and find the LDR 475 link and click new post below it.
ReplyDeleteMicah, I think you should look more into the servant leadership class since that seems to be the major point of your project. You can probably work on both but focus more on that one.
Oh wait...you can also be on this page and look up at the right hand corner and it says new post next to where it says sign out
ReplyDeletethanks Becky!
