I feel like this week was not as busy as last week, as far as my project, but there was still a lot of stuff to do in other classes and when we had our board meeting. On Monday, TJ and I met with Dr. Millard to go over bylaws and get them perfected (or so we thought) for our board meeting on Tuesday morning. We also went over what we would need to print out for each member of the board the next day, such as the list of names for the organization. So TJ and I worked on that a lot on Monday morning getting everything ready that we would need for our meeting. On Tuesday morning, we had our meeting and it went well, I think. I felt a little more organized than last time, since we had already done one board meeting. Then after the board meeting, TJ and I spent a lot of time going back over the bylaws and correcting them after the meeting, since we had reviewed them at the meeting and had made a lot of changes. Thursday night TJ and I met again to work on finishing corrections to the bylaws and typing up the minutes for the meeting to send to each board member.
My greatest joy this week was probably getting the second board meeting under our belts! It felt good to have one more productive thing with our organization happen!
My greatest challenge this week was working on the bylaws, again. I just feel like it is almost a tedious task, and we don’t seem to be getting anywhere by it. I know that progress is happening, but it seems like it’s taking forever.
A leadership lesson that I learned this week is that change takes so long to come about that I can see why some people give up. But I really have to just keep my eyes on what we are working on and know that it is for a good cause, and change will happen but it is sometimes slow.
Question: Aaron and I were talking earlier this week and I had a thought. Do the rest of you think that this project would be more effective and we would be able to cause more lasting change, if we had a whole school year to work on this project? I just really feel like it would give us more time to really focus on it and implement lasting change!

I think the whole school year may be much easier to implement lasting change but that it would be too much time to be lazy. I am not a procrastinator and I think I would be on this project if it were not just one semester. I do think if it were two semester that it would be much easier for us to feel that we have left no strings untied.
ReplyDeletewell, you already know that i do. In regards to procrastinating maybe we could do something like require the 90 hours in the first semester but then use the second to finish things up and to do the paper and things like that.
