TJ March 8-12

This week was an exciting one for Kendra and I. Monday we finally had our first board meeting! It went very well and I received compliments from several members who were in attendance. There was a couple of things we forgot or could have done better but the good news is we have three more meetings to improve! Tuesday we had our weekly meeting with Dr. Millard where we discussed the board meeting and the goals for the next week and then class after that. Other than that we haven’t done a whole lot this week other than e-mailing the minutes to the board.

The greatest joy this week was definitely having our first board meeting. It was huge relief to get through it and it was awesome to hear we did a good job from people who have had plenty of experience serving on boards.

The greatest challenge this week was probably preparing for the meeting Sunday night and Monday morning. It was pretty stressful and a little nerve-wracking Monday morning.

The leadership lesson I learned this week is how to run a board meeting. We did a good job with the meeting but there was a lot learned we could do better. There will probably be other opportunities in my life to serve on a board, whether that be in a church or for a business or organization, and knowing how a board meeting runs will be very beneficial.

Question: Did anyone have trouble jumping back into your project this week or have trouble thinking about it over spring break?

  1. I had a rediculous amount of trouble jumping back into my project. The creative juices are just not flowing this close to the end. It has been a real struggle to get my hours in with all the other things I have to do. I totally understand that!

  2. I always have trouble making myself work. But I was a little low on hours coming into this week, so that pushed me a little. I'm one of those people that works better with a little pressure. I kind of wish I'd felt it sooner though, because it's a pain having to put in 10-15 hours a week.

  4. I have had a really hard time putting in the hours since spring break. It's hard to get motivated again.
